Let me begin by saying Naples Florida is a beach town. The top requirement I get from prospective buyers is that the property be close to the beach. When I ask “how close is close enough?” more often than not, they respond with something like “under 30 miles” or “under an hour”.
This reduces the list of possible properties to virtually everything- 30 miles to the east could put you in farm country or the Everglades, yet still be only 30-45 minutes away from the Gulf.
To make location to the beach more meaningful, we need better categories:
Beachfront – out the back door, toes in the sand.
Walk to the beach – usually under a mile, and west of US 41.
For the above two categories, you should pick your beach:
Barefoot Beach Vanderbilt Beach Pelican Bay
Seagate Park Shore The Moorings Olde Naples
Bike/short drive to the beach – typically around 1-6 miles from the beach, between US 41 and I-75.
Short drive to the beach (unless Lance Armstrong is your idol) – typically between 6-9 miles from the beach, between I-75 and Collier Blvd.
Pack a lunch (a light lunch – it is still Naples) – 10 miles +
While these aren’t specific distances from specific properties, you get the general idea. Winter traffic will change drive times some and there are other things to consider – amenities, shopping, etc.
